NYCPD inspections prompt recall of 36000 police cruisers across the country

1,613 Chevy Impalas in the New York fleet need to have a defective part in the cars’ front ends replaced. 2008-2012 models are effected.    By Joe Kemp   — Friday, August 17th, 2012 ‘The New York Daily News’

The NYPD prompted a nationwide recall of Chevrolet Impalas used as police cruisers after city cops spotted a defective part, officials said Thursday.  The recall, which covers more than 36,000 police vehicles across the country, is expected to begin Aug. 21, officials said.

General Motors announced the recall of 2008 to 2012 models after the NYPD alerted the automaker that the vehicles’ front lower control arms, which support the front wheels, were cracking, officials said.  There were no reports that the defective part had caused any accidents or injuries.
The NYCPD has 2,366 Impalas in its fleet and 1,613 are subject to the recall.

From: JOE JOHNSON [

After months and months of negotiations between the NYPD PBA & (which I was heavily involved in as a go between)   Great Expressions Dental Centers will now accept the PBA Retiree Dental Plan IN FULL!!

This is huge since there was only a very limited number of providers here in Florida.   I suggest members print the Dental form and bring it with you to the office you choose to use.
Here is a link to the PBA that lists ALL offices participating...
I will continue to work with Great Expressions Dental Centers to get the DEA, SBA, LBA & Superior Officers Unions signed up also.

Authorities identified the deceased officers as Brandon Nielsen, 34, and Jeremy Triche, 28. The Times-Picayune reported that the injured officers are Michael Scott Boyington, 33, and Jason Triche, 30.     The first shooting occurred around 5:30 a.m. in a parking lot used by workers in an area of manufacturing plants and refineries along the Mississippi River.

"This is a very difficult day. I lost two good men." Sheriff Michael Kerry Tregre

Louisiana authorities say the two sheriff's deputies were killed in an "ambush" after they responded to reports of a traffic officer being shot multiple times early Thursday morning near an isolated parking lot for a Valero refinery.

Veterans group is disappointed in $5 million tab for two events.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki has rescinded the purchasing authority of employees in the departmental division under investigation for two conferences that cost $5 million and may have involved inappropriate gifts. Shinseki also has set up a 90-day independent review of Veteran Affairs Department training policies, VA announced.

In a statement released after news broke Monday that human resources employees at conferences in ,Orlando Florida in July and August 2011 may have accepted thousands of dollars’ worth of gifts that included alcohol, concert tickets and spa visits, the department also said it is conducting new ethics training for all personnel involved with the planning and execution of conferences and recertification of contract specialists.

“While the inspector general has stated that the conferences were for legitimate training purposes, that would not excuse the misconduct or poor judgment that is alleged of even a few individuals,” the department said in a statement on the Florida events.    full article

NYCPD  Officer Phillip Cardillo Can not Be Memorialized Thanks to Louis Farrakhan
Officer Phillip Cardillo

That Stellar Symbol of Chicago Values, Rahm Emanuel, is working with Louis Farrakhan, purveyor of hatred and bigotry, on the Chicago crime wave.  Meanwhile, Farrakhan is being allowed to block a Harlem memorial for murdered police officer, Phillip Cardillo. It was Farrakhan’s own people who killed the officer.

Be sure to read about the startling cover up after Desiree’s story. You won’t regret it.

The following story about Phillip Cardillo was written by Desiree Moore earlier this year.
